Spine in the neck are has vertebrae and a disc is found between them which prevent the friction. If there is degeneration of this disc leading to irritation of nerves passing by, it causes some symptoms like vertigo, nausea, numbness in hands etc. these are the features of cervical spondylosis.
Cervical spondylosis is a vata disorder mentioned under manyastambh and apbahuk in Ayurveda. The symptoms of numbness in hands, stiff neck and vertigo indicate the vata nature of the problem. In elderly the degenerative changes due to vata are obvious.
